LinguaLinx professional resources include transcribers and proofreaders certified by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) and experienced with Braille code, its unique formatting and pagination rules.
Before beginning to transcribe any material into Braille, our staff reviews the documents to note any charts, graphs, tables or pictures that will require special handling. Complex tables are analyzed and sometimes rearranged to present them in the most understandable way, utilizing the least amount of space.
Manual Input or Optical Scanning
Although it's easier to receive documents in an electronic format, we are experienced at converting hard-copy documents into Braille. Optical scanning may produce an electronic file that is usable for transcription into Braille, although some smaller text may require manual input. Converting complex tables into Braille often requires analyzing the content and then manually inputting the data into a usable format.
Multiple Languages, Nemeth and DotsPlus (Math and Science)
Whether in multiple languages or containing complex mathematical or scientific formulas and graphs, we have experience at producing materials such as computer programming or mathematics textbooks.
3-D Graphics, Maps and Figures
LinguaLinx Graphic Design Specialists apply creativity and experience to produce charts, graphs, tables or documents which are easy to read by touch. Many Braille embossers are capable of producing dots at varying heights; therefore several layers of information can be represented on a single sheet of Braille.
