Translation

LinguaLinx selects only the most qualified linguists who work with the source language so that the style, tone and nuance of the original message or idea are accurately conveyed for the intended target market. In consultation with our clients, we suggest adaptations when necessary to create the most culturally appropriate translation possible.

All linguists engaged by LinguaLinx, including full-time staff translators, contract and freelance personnel, must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Native speaker of the target language
  • Resident of the native target market
  • Up-to-date understanding of language and its usage
  • Proven professional experience providing translation, editing or proofreading services from one or more source languages into native language
  • Subject-matter expertise with industry-specific terminology, processes and ideas
  • Certification or active participation in internationally-recognized organizations such as the American Translators Association (ATA) or the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC)

Prior to engaging in the translation of large volumes of text, we may complete a small portion to serve as a sample for each of the respective languages involved. This allows us to facilitate initial client review and make adjustments for style, tone and terminology.

Once initial translation is completed, an editor is selected to review the translation and ensure its accuracy and consistency, as well as address issues with subjective interpretation and cultural concepts. Once editing is complete, an independent proofreader is engaged to ensure that no errors with the document itself are present prior to delivery.

Quality Assurance
The LinguaLinx Quality Assurance process ensures that final translations read as though originally written in the target language. Our independent proofreaders are trained professionals that analyze text for errors regarding spelling, hyphenation, mistranslation and omissions. Meaning and accuracy are maintained by thoroughly analyzing, editing and comparing the translated text against the original for aesthetic elements such as consistency in font, pagination, table of contents entries and index alphabetization, etc.
