What Being Named a Top Language Service Provider Means for Our Clients
Based on 2020 verified revenues, independent market research firm CSA Research named LinguaLinx as...
Machine translation is available in three levels of service. Varying in degree of post-editing detail, each level provides a solution that is suited for a particular set of needs and includes LinguaLinx’s exceptional customer service.
Machine translation is the most basic form of LinguaLinx’s translation services. Derived from dictionary definitions, machine translation provides a word-by-word rendering of select content. Unlike human translation, machine translation does not provide any contextual nuances or tone; it is typically used to “decode” language rather than provide a comprehensive meaning.
Depending on the size and end-use of a translation, there are numerous situations when machine translation is both an appropriate and cost-effective solution. LinguaLinx offers three levels of machine translation to ensure each project’s output ultimately matches the client’s needs.

Machine Translation with light post-editing takes the output of raw machine translation and applies a light post-editing review to better convey its context. This minimal edit includes correcting any major errors that might hinder reader comprehension or usability.
Light post-editing is preferable when the reader needs an accurate understanding of the source content; it’s often used for internal materials or when the translated content will have a short lifespan.
Machine Translation with full post-editing is the most accurate and grammatically correct of the three levels, yet still retains the sentence structure and composition framework of the source content. The raw machine translation is reviewed and thoroughly edited by a certified, native-speaking linguist.
This level of editing is recommended when the reader needs an accurate understanding of the content, such as with external, consumer-facing materials.
Human translation is entirely performed by certified, native-speaking linguists. Working directly with your source content, our linguists provide grammatically correct and natural sounding translations that include culturally appropriate embellishments and idioms.
Human translation is particularly suited for personalized content or business-critical documents. Health and safety-focused content also benefit from its attention to nuance and intent. Human translation is also widely used for marketing copy and other external-facing instances when brand integrity must be maintained.
Generally speaking, machine translation is less expensive than its human counterpart. LinguaLinx uses Translation Memory, a tool that recalls previously translated words and phrases, making it possible to offer discounts based on the number of repeated words. Combined with the assurances of our editing services, this is a major advantage of using LinguaLinx over an online translation option.
That said, there are numerous instances when the benefits of human translation outweigh the cost savings. Nothing reads as fluently as source content translated by a native-speaking linguist.
